Email services vendor Mimecast has begun offering services from local data centre it announced today.
The company's security, archiving and continuity services will be delivered from two data centres in New South Wales.
Mimecast's services are available for Microsoft Exchange, Office 365 and Gmail.
The NSW facilities are part of a network of 10 data centres around the world.
The vendor also opened a new sales office in Sydney this month in response to customer demand for services.
According to Mimecast, it now employs 22 people in Sydney and Melbourne, up from 12 in March this year.
“Email is a critical IT service for organisations of all sizes,” Mimecast CEO Peter Bauer said in a statement
“Every year we hear of organisations around the world becoming victims of data leaks and cyber attacks that cost them money, cripple their operations and damage reputations, often irreparably.
“In the last year alone, Australia has seen its fair share of data leaks, hacks and ransomware attacks. Email is often the starting point for all of this and has become a primary way to attack organisations.
“It is also the IT system our employees rely on most to get work done. So protecting it from attack, as well as saving and securing the data it carries is a vital service.”
