New QNAP storage servers boost speed

We're used to seeing a processor as an integral part of the specs for a PC, but not so for network-attached storage (NAS). And yet that's how manufacturers, including QNAP, are boosting the performance of NAS devices. The company today introduced several servers in its Turbo NAS line with Intel's 1.66-GHz Atom D-510 Dual-Core processor.

Western Digital launches 2TB hard disk drive

Interesting times among hard disk manufacturers. Western Digital continues to solidify its role as a leader in the drive industry. Though the company is not normally known for being at the forefront of capacity jumps, today it became the first manufacturer to announce the jump to 2TB in a single drive. The previous capacity high-point was Seagate's Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB drive.

LG adds to connected Blu-ray player lineup

At the Consumer Electronics Show Wednesday, LG introduced two Blu-ray players that offer access to on-demand streaming content from Netflix, CinemaNow, and YouTube. LG also took the wraps off three new Blu-ray Disc Home Theater Systems.

CES - Microvision projector will fit in shirt pocket

The concept of ultraportable, pocket projectors isn't new: Mitsubishi and Samsung both have models they refer to as "pocket" size. By comparison with Microvision's new prototype projector, those models are boulder-sized rocks.
