Sony has introduced a new 16-inch F Series laptop and a thinner and lighter S Series as part of its VAIO lineup. Both laptops are available for preorder now with second-generation Core i7 processors and high-end features for multimedia enthusiasts.

Dell has teased its upcoming XPS 15z ultra-thin laptop on Facebook, posting photos and a video to pique consumer interest. The 15.6-inch laptop sports a slim and streamlined design and, like the late Dell Adamo, is meant to take on the MacBook Air.

Hands-On With the Ultrathin Lenovo ThinkPad X1

Lenovo officially announced the ultrathin ThinkPad X1--targeted toward both business and personal laptop users--on Monday. Besides being the thinnest ThinkPad to date, the X1 adds consumer features, such as a backlit keyboard, with enterprise-level security and other business capabilities. I got a chance to play with this 13-inch ultraportable and have to say the X1 may give the MacBook Air a run for its money.

Toshiba laptop does simultaneous 2D and glasses-free 3D

The Toshiba dynabook Qosmio T851/D8CR, announced on Wednesday, not only lets you view 3D without glasses, it can also display 2D -- at the exact same time -- in another window on the 15.6-inch screen. This multi-dimensional viewing is a first in laptop technology, and works by sending separate images to each eye, as well as facial tracking via the webcam.

Toshiba Introduces Svelte Tecra and Portege Laptops

Toshiba announced on Tuesday its new range of slim, high-performance laptops geared towards business professionals, the Portege R830, Tecra R840, and Tecra 850. These Tecra and Portege laptops were reengineered from the ground up to be more portable than their predecessors, utilize second-generation Intel processors, and offer configuration options like solid state drives and optional discrete graphics.

Dell 15-inch tablet-laptop combo revealed

Thanks to leaked FCC schematics and specs, word is out that Dell is developing a new convertible tablet and notebook combo. The 15-inch device, code named the "Dell Panerai", may follow in the footsteps of the 10-inch Inspiron Duo convertible, though it's not clear whether the Panerai will feature the same flip design.

Asus sticking with Windows 7 tablets

Asus will continue to build Window 7 tablets, calling Microsoft's OS a worthy competitor to the Apple iPad and the army of Android tablets on the market. An Asus official told TechRadar that the company gets a lot of inquiries from the consumer and business market for Windows 7 tablets, so it will continue making them as long as that demand remains.

Fujitsu taps into mobile 3D Trend, ships lifebook AH572

While Nintendo's 3DS gaming device has hogged the 3D limelight of late, Fujitsu quietly began shipping its 3D-capable Lifebook AH572. This laptop's claim to fame is the dual function 15.6-inch widescreen display for both 2D and 3D (with 3D glasses) viewing. The Lifebook AH572 is now shipping for $999.

New MSI Laptops Tackle Gaming and Entertainment

Computer maker MSI is getting serious about goofing around with two new high-performance laptops aimed at entertainment junkies and gamers. Thursday MSI announced its GX680 system, a high-end gaming laptop with a quad-core processor and up to 16GB of RAM. On the gaming front MSI announced the CR650, the company's first laptop to use the new AMD Fusion processor.
