Ricoh’s service offers SOS Print + Media improved reliability
As Australia’s largest digital print-on–demand provider, SOS offer full-service printing facilities in Sydney and Brisbane with a combined annual turnover of $37 million. The company recently purchased Ricoh’s production colour device to handle overflow from their Xeikon 5000 press.
“We have been very happy with the workload and ability of the Pro C900. The device is dependable in its ability to offer maximum uptime while also demonstrating high accuracy in repeatable colour jobs,” said Michael Schulz, director of SOS Print and Media.
In its first three months onsite the Ricoh Pro C900 at SOS had already processed over 300,000 impressions, printing everything from “colour books, covers, flyers, short run colour, a bit of variable data and mail-outs”.
After first seeing the device at Print 09 last September in Chicago, SOS chose Ricoh through a rigorous selection process, impressed by Ricoh’s high service standards and the quality and consistency of the device.
“Although they are a reasonably new player to the digital production market, we saw their engine capability and service offering as a good fit for our digital print requirements,” he added.
Ricoh provided SOS staff with tailored training on the device on site and in their specialised training facility in their Printing Innovation Centre. Since the install, production specialists have been on hand to support SOS with the Pro C900, reacting to any calls quickly. “If we have needed help, Ricoh have responded quickly with support to ensure we’re getting everything we need,” said Schulz.
Kathy Wilson, Ricoh Australia’s General Manager of Production and Business Solutions, agreed. “SOS’s workload requires maximum uptime and consistent colour continuity. The Ricoh Pro C900 sits in a unique position against its competitors and SOS's requirements are well suited for the device.”
