Andy Hurt appointed Managing Director of Poly ANZ, formerly Plantronics/Polycom

Former NEC Australia executive to lead new frontier for legendary sound and video companies

SYDNEY, Australia – 20 March 2019. Plantronics, Inc. has announced that the company will transform into Poly, a technology company focused on the human experience of communications and collaboration, aiming to make communication as rich and natural as in-person. This follows the acquisition of Polycom by Plantronics, both with legendary audio and video expertise. Now together as one, it has relaunched as Poly with the aim to be the solution of choice whenever and wherever collaboration clouds reach people, led in ANZ by newly-appointed Managing Director, Andy Hurt.

Poly, which means “many”, uses its extensive endpoints and communications platforms to reduce the distractions, complexity, and distance in the modern workplace. Poly will focus on four key areas of innovation: making workspaces intuitive for everyone, helping people collaborate (their way), designing mobile-first solutions for the modern workspace and advancing cloud services that help IT pros and users get more out of their devices.

Andy Hurt has been appointed as Managing Director for ANZ for Poly and is leading the two formerly-well established brands into the years to come under a new umbrella, with a vision of bringing together its extensive range of communications devices and services, offered across any platform of choice, as the leading choice for every kind of workspace.

He joins Poly from NEC Australia, where he was the Director of Sales, Marketing & Solutions and had been with the company for more than 6 years. Andy brings over 30 years’ experience across both ANZ and APAC, with a proven track record of driving success for a company’s overall growth and success in the region. He also previously held a number of roles with Avaya Australia & New Zealand, and has also worked with Honeywell and 3Com.

“We’re excited to be bringing together two established pioneers in audio and video technology to be moving forward and one business – Poly,” says Andy Hurt, Managing Director, ANZ for Poly. “With Poly, we’re dedicated to putting people – our customers - at the centre of every collaboration experience. Since joining in November, I’m proud to have been selected to lead the business in Australia and New Zealand, and have the opportunity to establish a new future for our customers, partners and employees in delivering a high-quality technology experience.”

Poly will have a strong presence in the region, with offices throughout Australia and New Zealand. With a strong presence on-the-ground, it will be able to help bring its customers a superior sound experience all the way from the beach to the boardroom.

“Human connection is at the core of what we do, and with the extensive knowledge and expertise brought into Poly, we’ll be able to deliver high-quality, proven products and services to Australians and New Zealanders to help improve their many connections in life. I’m delighted to be at the helm of an innovative company and one with such dedication to solving customer needs. Individually we’ve had a great history, but together as Poly we’ll have an even better future.”
