Expert360 hires Tinder matching guru Hugh Williams

SYDNEY, 11TH JUNE 2019 - Expert360, APACs leading freelance marketplace and management platform for professionals, has today announced Hugh Williams, formerly a Product and Engineering leader at eBay, Tinder, Google and Microsoft has joined the company’s advisory board to turbocharge the platform for rapid growth.

Professor Williams, who has a PhD in computer science, will act as a strategic advisor to CEO Bridget Loudon and the leadership team, and also work closely with engineering and product leaders to match the right talent to the right project at the right time.

“eBay reimagined how we connected people with products, Google reimagined how we connected people with information, and Expert360 is reimagining how we connect organisations with talent. The chance to be part of an incredible growth story and to work closely with Bridget and the team is what has attracted me to the role,” he said.

“The global scalability of the platform coupled with their unique offering for companies perfectly positions Expert360 to permanently change the way companies and talent interact,” he said.

Professor Williams is a much in demand senior executive and comes to Expert360 with an enviable track record of success and achievement at notable global businesses. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the Melbourne Business School and RMIT University, and an advisor at several other companies. He is a member of the board of the State Library Victoria, and spends much of his time working on CS in Schools, a philanthropic initiative to help teachers teach coding in secondary schools.

He was previously the Vice President of Google Maps at Google, and he has also held executive roles at eBay, Microsoft, Tinder, and Pivotal. Prior to that, he spent over 10 years researching and developing search technologies, and 5 years running his own startup and consultancy.

CEO of Expert360, Bridget Loudon, said she was delighted to welcome Professor Williams to the advisory team and thrilled he picked Expert360 as a start-up to get formally involved with upon returning to Australia from the United States.

“Expert360 is investing heavily in its technology off the back of the launch of Expert360 Enterprise late last year. Intelligent matching with rich profile data is really at the core of the platform, and we’re really just getting started,” said Ms Loudon. "We're excited to have Hugh involved in our work, especially given his 25-year track record in working on search problems in academia, and at Microsoft, eBay, and Google".
