A slew of storage companies are releasing new products at Storage Networking World (all prices shown in US dollars)
What do you think? Which vendor has the best new storage product? Which ones aren't worth buying?
AppAssure MailRetriever: MailRetriever, designed for Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft System Center Data Protect Manager, is software for browsing, recovering, searching and exporting e-mail and other mailbox content directly from Exchange Data Stores. AppAssure says this makes it easy to recover lost messages, mailboxes, calendar items, contacts and tasks.
InMage Systems DR-Scout 4.2: The latest version of InMage's flagship disaster recovery and business continuity software features support for new platforms, including virtualization tools like Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer and VMware ESX. It also features enhanced reporting tools, role-based access control and faster data migration.
LSI Engenio 7900 Storage System: A mid-range storage system designed for large-scale consolidation projects, Engenio offers rapid application recovery, data migration, centralized management, and remote backup.
Axxana Phoenix: DNS firewall capability that enables network managers to protect internal servers from malicious attacks; and DNS protocol monitoring that identifies the pattern, or fingerprint, of attacks to more easily detect and mitigate them in the future.
FalconStor Network Storage Server: An update to FalconStor's SAN replication and cluster protection software allows it to work with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Multi-Site Clustering, allowing instant disaster recovery over wide-area networks in both physical server and Hyper-V virtual environments.
Compellent Live Volume: Live Volume is a new automated business continuity feature for Compellent SANs that gives enterprises continuous, coordinated access to data stored in different remote storage sites around the world.
"As customers move applications from one physical or virtual server to another for maintenance, local site issues or disaster recovery, Live Volume will enable IT managers to proactively and automatically migrate the associated storage volumes," Compellent says.
HP Secure Key Manager: HP enhanced its Secure Key Manager, a hardware-based encryption key management product, so it now supports up to 2 million keys. HP also added hardware encryption features to its Storage Works XP24000 and XP20000 disk arrays.
Data protection technology highlights from SNW include new storage tools from HP, OnStor, FalconStor and more target data protection, disaster recovery, and remote offices.
ONStor Cougar 3000: The Cougar 3000 series offers clustered network-attached storage boxes that are ideal for file server consolidation, persistent data archives, digital image repositories, and support for software-as-a-service applications and video streaming.
